The Gator Varsity field hockey team clenched their second victory in the scrimmage against Varina High School! The first goal was scored by Caudill ('12) from center mid, assisted by forward Curtin ('12). The second goal was scored by senior wing Beach ('10), assisted again by Curtin ('12). Caudill ('12) pushed hard to get her second goal of the day and the third for the team, assisted by Beach ('10). Beach ('10) came right back from the assist to score her second goal of the day, the fourth for the team, and was helped out by senior captain Zacharias ('10). As with the trend of the game, Zacharias ('10), came back from the assist to score her first of the day, assisted by Beach ('10). The team did an excellent job of making smart passes and keeping the ball on the Varina side of the field. Freshman Puccinelli ('13) scored her first goal of the game and the season, assisted by Zacharias ('10). Zacharias ('10) came right back from the assist to score again, assisted by freshman Puchalski ('10). Senior captain Zacharias ('10) scored the last goal of the half by herself, to bring the team up to seven goals. Zacharias ('10) and Caudill ('12), assisted by Phipps ('12) scored the last two goals of the game to bring the Gators their 9-0 victory. Phipps ('12) did an excellent job of carrying the ball down the field several times to help swing the pace of the game. Budi ('12), Harlan ('11), and McSweeney ('10) were a rock solid defensive line throughout the game and rarely let it past the 25 yard line. The team looks solid and is looking forward to LIS games!
The Gator Varsity and JV Teams play their first real season games on Thursday at St. Joseph's! Come out and support the teams!
